Web based employee self service is where the employees can access information and perform tasks by using the internet. This application does not require any interaction with people or representative of an enterprise. They can also access their own accounts and personal records or request for sick leave online, claim or anything easily. Besides, all kind of these are controlled by manager for approval and recorded automatically in the database. There are two dependent factors that needed to update information. Firstly is if the information is the employee’s own personal information and if the employee is given management right. Nowadays, the company tend to implements employee self service (ESS). Therefore, human resources will give employees ability to view and update information. This application will give both benefits either employees or managers.
For
employees, it can give benefit to them because they can access some or all of
their personal details faster and easily. This application that implement can
be used not limited for office hours, it can be wider and unlimited session to
access. Besides, in case the employees have emergency that cannot go to office,
they just apply online for sick leave, holiday and etc. By using ESS system,
the employees can save their time and cost. This system does not ask for fees
to access. Furthermore, it can allow employees to make changes to their record
anytime without wait for applying. For the most important, the employees can
also plan and view their own rosters and departmental rosters. Furthermore, the
employees can upload their report in ESS to reduce any overload of submitting
the report to employers.
Whereas,
for managers, this system can allow them to approve or decline their employees
request on sick leave or claims. This system can be save and
environment-friendly because it does not use paper-based system. Furthermore,
time to response these request can also be reduced and the manager can response
it through online easily. Besides, the manager can log on or out immediately if
there is any job changes of his or her employees. Other than that, they can get
the report from employees through ESS effectively. The manager can also control the activities
of their employees over time to avoid any miscommunication and disciplinary
action.
For my opinion,
this kind of system is easy to handle and each organisation need to use it for
improvement.
